This year, teens can register for an all day Teen Program on Saturday. For just $10 plus general admission, your teen can benefit from Generation of Virtue’s energy packed Culture Shock program.
Since your teen’s general admission price gives them access to the Convention on both Friday and Saturday, look over the Friday workshop schedule to see if there is something you might want to attend with your teen. Also, please encourage your teen to volunteer for a 2 ½ hour shift on Friday.
Culture Shock: A Teen Track by Generations of Virtue
In a culture that equates “love” with infatuation, assigns someone value based on his or her appearance, and claims that there is no such thing as absolute truth, teens are riddled with questions and peppered with doubt every day. But in the midst of all this hopelessness, God is raising a generation that He can use to turn the tide of culture back to His standards and His truth. The enemy knows this generation has a very great calling, and so he is the one who is bombarding the teens with all these questions and doubts. This teen track is a survival guide for teens, teaching them to replace the lies they’ve believed with the truth of God. Through each session, the Generations of Virtue Team tackles these messages coming from the enemy’s camp:
- What I see in the media or hear from my peers is always true.
- Technology is all about me and my world.
- The only way to fit into society and be happy is to seek popularity.
- I can only find fulfillment in romantic relationships.
- How I spend my time doesn’t really matter.
- I’m only a teenager. It’s not like I’m going to be doing anything important anyway.

In a culture saturated with lies, it is difficult to distinguish what is the real truth. There are lies that we have believed since childhood. These seeds were planted when we were young and now bear fruit in the teen years. Combat the lies of our culture as we prune these thorny thistles and plant the truth of the word of God.

Who Will Win the Popularity Contest?
Our culture is gripped with popularity and the obsession to fit in. The enemy has drawn his battle lines for our generation: division at any cost. People-pleasing and racing to the top only means putting others down in your quest for cool. But Christ longs for us to forsake all in passionate pursuit of Him. It’s His desire that we are “in it, not of it”. So which will you choose: The world’s fading applause or Christ’s eternal approval?

Culture Shock: Staying Pure in Our Technology Obsessed World
Our generation is rapidly moving into a whole new era: The Technology Age. Maybe you’ve gotten into it; maybe you’ve kept your distance. Either way, people all around us are telling stories about what kind of “cool” things they are doing with the internet, iPods, cell phones, and spaces. Think it sounds like fun? While some aspects can be fun, some are very dangerous to you physically, mentally and spiritually. Join the Generations of Virtue Team to learn details of how to be safe and stay pure while taking advantage of the internet’s benefits.

If you want to arrive at the altar on your wedding day pure, you’re going to need a game plan. The choice to stay pure is a daily, intentional decision. Join the Generations of Virtue team as we share tips and tricks to face this battle head on and claim victory in Christ.

The Pathway of Purity that Leads to Purpose
Using the 5 senses of seeing, feeling, tasting, hearing, and smelling, Julie Hiramine will not be your science instructor, but edifying you about staying pure. There is a flood of inappropriate imagery and explicit content that besieges us everywhere we turn. Come and receive practical guidance on how to meet the many challenges that surround you in the areas of relationships, media discernment, and developing a deeper relationship with the Lord. God’s call on this generation is to step up into His higher standard and seek His face in the midst of all that might want to pull us off course. Join us as we together plot a course through the maze that the world is lost in.
