Over 100 volunteers are needed to serve at the 2008 ENOCH Annual Convention. In fact, ENOCH is comprised of 100% volunteers with a vision for serving the broader homeschooling community in New Jersey. The convention offers an opportunity for you to join hands with ENOCH. Without the help of volunteers the convention would not be possible.
To sign up to be a volunteer, you must register to attend the ENOCH Convention as you normally would, either online or by mail. Simply answer "yes" to the volunteer question online or check the "volunteer" box on the mail-in registration form. You must pay the convention registration fee before you volunteer. Any questions may directed by email to the Volunteer coordinator.
Volunteers will be taken on a first come, first served basis. No verbal requests to volunteer will be accepted. Previous record of faithfulness of stated duties will be considered for previous volunteers. The sooner you sign up, the more likely it is that you will get your choice of assignment. Most jobs are 3 hour shifts. The Workshop Monitor job is for three 1-hour workshops - you pick which ones! Volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their shift to allow for a brief time of orientation.

* If for some reason, you cannot attend the Early Bird Shopping session, you can collect ENOCH Bucks instead, which can be used at most exhibitor booths, the workshop recording booth, the food court and the Used Curriculum Sale.
The following are simple summaries of the jobs. A more detailed job description will be sent to each volunteer.
If you're a people person, you'll love serving in the registration area! Your smiling face will be the first one our attendees see as they enter the Convention Center. After giving them a warm greeting, you'll give them their name tags and Convention Program and encourage them to have a great weekend.
If you come to the convention, eager to learn from the workshops, why not serve as a volunteer at the same time? All you have to do is choose 3 workshops that you'd like to attend. While you're there, you'll make sure the room is ready for the speaker and make sure there is someone ready to record the workshop. Then you'll simply read from a short script that announces the workshop. While you listen, you'll fill out a 1 page evaluation of the workshop and do a quick head count. That's all there is to it!
ENOCH is doing their own workshop recordings this year. Helping in the recordings booth means keeping the CDs stocked, handling money, and doing credit card transactions. No prior experience necessary!
Men, we need your help in the Convention Hall. For many attendees, the logistics of navigating around the Convention Center are a little daunting. That's where you come in. You can serve as ENOCH's "official" presence - ready and willing to answer frequently asked questions and generally keep order in the Hall. You might even end up being a hero by helping a lost child find his parents! Of course, we don't expect you to know everything about the convention, so you'll be equipped with a folder that has all the info you need!
The Used Curriculum area is a book lover's dream come true! Thousands of books will pass through your hands as you sort them by subject in preparation for Saturday's sale. This is the perfect job for energetic and mature teens as they help women handle heavy boxes of books.
Book lovers will have a chance to do what they do best - help shoppers find what they need and keep books organized on the tables. If you'd rather work a cash register, we can use your help there - don't worry - no prior experience necessary! Mature teens will find that the time passes quickly while they are kept busy re-organizing unsold books in preparation for the sellers to pick them up at the end of the day.
Everyone loves the person who greets them in the quiet respite of the Hospitality Area. Exhibitors, Speakers and Staff Members come to the Hospitality Area for a meal and a quick break from the high activity level of the Convention Center. Your job will be to collect meal tickets from those entering the area and assisting the Hospitality Coordinator in keeping the area clean, neat and inviting! (If you have an infant with you, this may be the perfect place for you to serve.)
