Greetings from the President’s desk;

Fall is finally here filled with its beautiful multi-color landscapes.  If you have not had a chance to enjoy this season’s sights, with your family, get out there before it is gone.  Plan a nice picnic and hike at a state park and enjoy the beautiful autumn colors and lush greenery.  Just last weekend, a very large group of us went apple picking which included a short ride to Hacklebarney State Park and had a great picnic…  It was extremely memorable and a wonderful outing for all.

I would like to thank Rhea Perry for sharing with us such a wealth of excellent information in the areas of Home Business, Entrepreneurial information and personal experiences at ENOCH’s scheduled Entrepreneurial Workshops ENOCH presented earlier in October.

Her “out of the box” insights were greatly challenging and was beyond inspirational.  All those who attended the session left in great amazement and desiring to know more.  If you would like to know more, please follow the link below:

Home Biz Education course.  http://homebizeducation.com?ref=Enoch-491

If you have any questions, please let us know.

I would like to encourage you all to continue to;

• Serve God

• Discover your gifts

• Provide well for your families

• Live financially free

• Contribute well to your communities

“Now the God of peace be with you all Amen”.   Romans 15:33 KJV

God Bless and keep you all.

Reminds us to look for the good qualities in our students.
You may be the only teacher who says something positive to them that day.

Reminds the teacher that they have to be flexible.
Things don't always go the way we plan,
But flexibility will help to work it out.

Reminds the teacher that sometimes we do more than teach,
That we help heal hurt feelings, broken dreams,
And lend an ear to a problem.

Reminds us to be thankful and we should list our blessings daily,
But also encourage our students to list their blessings
And to be proud of their accomplishments.

Reminds us to allow students to know we are human
And make mistakes just like they do, and it's ok.
We must all be able to learn from our mistakes.

Reminds us to stick with it
And encourage our students to do like wise.
Even the impossible task or assignment can be accomplished
By sticking to it.

Reminds us and our students we are worth a mint.
(We may not be paid a mint, but are worth one.)

Reminds us that everyone needs a hug,
Kiss, or warm fuzzy everyday.
(All teachers, students, parents, and even administrators)

Reminds us we need time to relax,
Go over our blessing, and take time for others.
Family, husbands, wives, friends, children need quality time together.

A teacher must be willing to show their students how much they care!!!

There is only one life to live...  Live in such a way as not to have any regrets...

Only what is done for Christ will last for all eternity!

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God - the final authority for all truth and practice. In other words, it is God’s handbook for life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) tells us, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

We are looking for a person or two who would serve as a liaison for HSLDA and ENOCH in serving the homeschool community and the politicians in Trenton. Liaison should possess knowledge in the legislative process in New Jersey, including how a bill is introduced, the hearing and voting requirements of the N.J. Assembly and Senate, as well as the governor’s final approval. Liaison must also be familiar with the regulatory agencies and law in New Jersey where such agencies or laws could have an impact on home education. These include the Department of Education, the Division of Family Services, and the Child Advocate’s Office. Other responsibilities would include: interfacing with HSLDA regarding legal threats to homeschooling freedoms in New Jersey; communicate to the ENOCH board regarding any local, state, national or international threats to homeschooling freedoms; communicate in writing – clearly outlining any threat to home education along with any recommended actions; communicate orally – to testify at Senate or Assembly hearings, and as needed with regulatory agencies; to recommend to the ENOCH board how and what to communicate to the public, including the press, regarding home education and any bills or laws related to homeschooling in New Jersey.  Contact David West at president@enochnj.org.

My name is Corey Colosky and I am a high school math teacher trying to help the homeschool community. If I can get enough people interested, I will be offering virtual math classes starting in the summer of 2018 and then again during the 2018-2019 school year. The format would be like a webinar where the class is live and the students can interact with each other and with me as the teacher. I would like to keep the price at $100 for the entire course. I was hoping that you would simply share this information with members of Educators Network of Christian Homeschoolers of NJ so I can see who is interested and which classes they are interested in. Here is a sign-up form. Filling this out does not commit you to anything, but it informs me that you are interested. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GV8BKM3

If you or members have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. I am working full-time as a teacher so please be gracious if it takes me a few days to respond to your emails.

I do already have Geometry and Algebra 2 courses completely online if you want to check it out also. This is different than what I am offering with the virtual classes because the virtual class would be live lessons.

Thank you for your time,

"The CLT wasn't a trap! It was actually refreshing in comparison to the ACT. It was obvious to me that the goal of the CLT was to cultivate truth, beauty, and goodness in a student. It was a fun test. The required passages were works that I had either read, or that I would read on my own time."
Olivia Dennison -  Mt. Hope, WV

“As a student who has grown up with authors like Dante and Chesterton in everything from evening family read-aloud’s to my courses of study, I am delighted to now have the opportunity to demonstrate my engagement with such literature to colleges and universities accepting the CLT. I have been motivated to take this test four times, not only for the above reasons, but also because the CLT experience - in contrast to that of the SAT - is simply and wholly enjoyable!"
Lilliana Johnson - New Roads, Louisiana

On a recent CLT student survey, 93%  of students reported that taking the CLT was a positive experience when compared to the SAT or ACT.

to answering any questions you have, and signing you up!

As you know, there are many growing needs for homeschoolers and we feel testing is an important one.  Homeschool Testing Services knows there are many opinions on testing.  We believe testing should not define a child, but it is important to use it as a tool so we can learn more about our children and where they stand academically.

We would love to help you meet this need.  You are able to go to our website to learn more: www.homeschooltestingservices.com.

Would you consider allowing our website link to be listed on your page as a resource to walk alongside families that choose to homeschool?

Some questions many families have that we’re open to answering:

Why should I test?

There are many reasons:

First, your state may require it.  Homeschool Testing Services can meet that need.

Second, you are able to use it as a tool to gage where your child is with other children their age.

Third, it will teach them test taking skills that are needed to better prepare them for college entrance exams such as the SAT and ACT.

What tests do you offer?

We offer the CTP (1st-10th grades) and Stanford.  The Stanford can be completed either online (grades 3rd-12th), in the comforts of your own home, on your computer or onsite (grades K-12th), where your child will go to a nearby location with other students and test in a classroom setting.

When should we test?

Homeschool Testing Services is available from February through mid-June.  Most families test between the months of April and mid-June as an end of the year assessment.

I would be more than willing to talk to you about this more if you have any questions.  Please see my signature below if you’d like to call me. I look forward to hearing from you.

MoMath wants to bring math to Broadway!  We have an opportunity to bring the worldwide Maths Inspiration tour, featuring YouTube phenom Matt Parker, to a Broadway theater this spring.  The interactive daytime show, aimed at 14- to 17-year-olds, features a variety of top math popularizers from the UK demonstrating that there's more to math than just taking exams.  There will be plenty of humor mixed in with serious math content — your students won't want to miss this!

In order to make the NYC tour a reality, we need a commitment from a minimum number of schools.  We are looking at the first week in June as a possibility for this exciting event, which will take place at around 1 pm on a school day.  Tickets are anticipated to cost about $30 per student.  Please let us know if you would be interested in attending an event like this by registering at broadway.momath.org.  No payment is required to register your interest now.

My name is Peter Meerwarth (Mr. Pete) and I am interested in teaching piano and/or voice lessons to home schooled children during the school day.  I currently own and operate an arts school in Allentown, NJ called MILL POND ARTS

(www.millpondarts.com).  WE currently offer art lessons to homeschoolers.

I am Certified to teach K-12 music in New York State where I taught at my alma mater for 10 years.  After that, I went into church music at the Allentown Presbyterian Church for another 10 years.  I started Mill Pond Arts five years ago.  We currently employ 7 finger-printed teachers in piano, guitar, voice, and piano and teach over 100 music lessons each week.

I mainly use the Alfred Basic piano method for my younger beginners using various hands-on approaches to experiencing music: tactile-eye/hand coordination exercises, ear training, dictation, training in theory through computer flash cards and work books, all with corresponding lesson and performance pieces.  A more complete list of musical concepts will be provided to parents with each year of lessons.

If you would like to speak further, please give me a call at 609-903-6560.

References and Resume available upon request.

 Thank you for your time.

Lyceum Scholars Program at Clemson University, is a new and unique $10,000 scholarship for incoming freshmen to study the moral, political, and economic foundations of a free society.  We have found that homeschool students are excellent candidates for the Lyceum Scholars Program and many of our current Scholars come from a homeschool background.
Lyceum Scholars take eight classes together as an intellectual cohort during their undergraduate career. They read the Great Books of Western Civilization and discuss timeless questions such as:

·  What makes a society free?

·  What makes a society prosperous?

·  What are the principles of the American Founding?

The Lyceum Scholars Program recreates the substance and value of a traditional liberal arts education, which is sadly missing from many of today’s colleges.

More information about the Program is available on
our website and students may apply here.
