Description: note

Greetings from the President’s desk;

Hoping all is well with you and your families, as this semester of homeschooling is underway.

My prayer for you all is that you do not get distracted by all the craziness that is going on our world around us. Let us be reminded that the enemy of our souls will always but obstacles of shapes and forms before us, to distract and separate the body of Christ.  No matter what topic, political or otherwise, make sure to stand back, take a deep breath, and remember who your real enemy is.

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

1 Peter 5:6-11 KJV

May God give us all wisdom and discernment to see beyond our natural senses.   May we allow Christ to develop in  us the fruits of the Spirit:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Galatians 5:22-23 KJV

May God help us all!!!

Years ago, I was enthralled as I listened to a pastor who for several years had faithfully served the church. His executive responsibilities had taken him all over this country. As he concluded his message, he told of one of the most frightening, yet thought-provoking, experiences of his life.

He had been on a long flight from one place to another. The first warning of the approaching problems came when the sign on the airplane flashed on: Fasten your seat belts. Then, after a while, a calm voice said, "We shall not be serving the beverages at this time as we are expecting a little turbulence. Please be sure your seat belt is fastened."

As he looked around the aircraft, it became obvious that many of the passengers were becoming apprehensive. Later, the voice of the announcer said, "We are so sorry that we are unable to serve the meal at this time. The turbulence is still ahead of us."

Then the storm broke. The ominous cracks of thunder could be heard even above the roar of the engines. Lightening lit up the darkening skies, and within moments that great plane was like a cork tossed around on a celestial ocean. One moment the airplane was lifted on terrific currents of air; the next, it dropped as if it were about to crash.

The pastor confessed that he shared the discomfort and fear of those around him. He said, "As I looked around the plane, I could see that nearly all the passengers were upset and alarmed. Some were praying. The future seemed ominous and many were wondering if they would make it through the storm.

Then, I suddenly saw a little girl. Apparently the storm meant nothing to her. She had tucked her feet beneath her as she sat on her seat; she was reading a book and every thing within her small world was calm and orderly. Sometimes she closed her eyes, then she would read again; then she would straighten her legs, but worry and fear were not in her world. When the plane was being buffeted by the terrible storm when it lurched this way and that, as it rose and fell with frightening severity, when all the adults were scared half to death, that marvelous child was completely composed and unafraid." The minister could hardly believe his eyes.

It was not surprising therefore, that when the plane finally reached its destination and all the passengers were hurrying to disembark, our pastor lingered to speak to the girl whom he had watched for such a long time. Having commented about the storm and behavior of the plane, he asked why she had not been afraid.

The child replied, "'Cause my Daddy's the pilot, and he's taking me home."

There are many kinds of storms that buffet us:
Many other storms can easily and quickly darken our skies and throw our plane into apparently uncontrollable movement. We have all known such times, and let us be honest and confess, it is much easier to be at rest when our feet are on the ground than when we are being tossed about a darkened sky.

Let us remember... Our Father is the Pilot. He is in control and taking us home... so Don't Worry.

There is only one life to live...  Live in such a way as not to have any regrets...

Only what is done for Christ will last for all eternity!

Description: bible

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God—the final authority for all truth and practice. In other words, it is God’s handbook for life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) tells us, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Description: volunteer

We are looking for a person or two who would serve as a liaison for HSLDA and ENOCH in serving the homeschool community and the politicians in Trenton. Liaison should possess knowledge in the legislative process in New Jersey, including how a bill is introduced, the hearing and voting requirements of the N.J. Assembly and Senate, as well as the governor’s final approval. Liaison must also be familiar with the regulatory agencies and law in New Jersey where such agencies or laws could have an impact on home education. These include the Department of Education, the Division of Family Services, and the Child Advocate’s Office. Other responsibilities would include: interfacing with HSLDA regarding legal threats to homeschooling freedoms in New Jersey; communicate to the ENOCH board regarding any local, state, national or international threats to homeschooling freedoms; communicate in writing – clearly outlining any threat to home education along with any recommended actions; communicate orally – to testify at Senate or Assembly hearings, and as needed with regulatory agencies; to recommend to the ENOCH board how and what to communicate to the public, including the press, regarding home education and any bills or laws related to homeschooling in New Jersey.  Contact David West at president@enochnj.org.

*** ENOCH of NJ Presents
Entrepreneurship Workshop

With Rhea Perry

We are excited to share this wonderful opportunity to the homeschooling communities of New Jersey and beyond!   Please share this information with your local support groups and other folks that may be interested in hearing this “REALLY EXITING” information!   Rhea speaks to and trains all types of professionals including multi- millionaires….

A day and a half days of encouragement, education and spectacular fun stories!

SAVE THE DATE:  October 6-7, 2017

Spend Friday night and all day Saturday learning how to help your young people gain a mindset for developing successful home businesses!

Creating and managing a home business requires more specific education, planning and mentoring than we've been taught in traditional school.

If you desire for your children or yourselves to:

• Discover their specific gifts

• Serve God and others with their gifts and talents

• Develop an entrepreneurial mindset

• Get specific education to operate in the Internet Age

• Provide well for their families

• Live financially free

• Contribute to their communities

Then bring them to this workshop to get vision for how to live and work outside of the educational box!

One of the duties of parents is to prepare their children to enter the Real World with an adequate education that will allow them to contribute to society and provide well for their families. What worked in the Industrial Revolution no longer works as well today. Jobs are disappearing daily and many are being shipped overseas.

Parents haven't been trained to think entrepreneurially in a system that was designed to train employees so many aren't equipped to educate children to be entrepreneurial.

This workshop is designed to equip parents to think bigger about their children’s education and to help those creative entrepreneurs in the house find the freedom to be who God created them to be – business owners that solve problems for customers and create jobs to employ others.

Our Speaker

Rhea Perry has educated her 7 children at home since 1987.  Her oldest son, Drew, brought his dad home from corporate America in just three years. Her second son, Will, started a successful commercial and industrial roofing company with his brother after apprenticing with a godly mentor.

In the 1980s, the Perry family represented Lifetime Books and Gifts, a company that supplied homeschoolers with living books and resources, throughout the South for five years. Through helping moms select curriculum, Rhea saw the importance of preparing young people to enter the world as leaders in business and government, but especially in home business.

After learning how to do business on the Internet from some very successful online marketers, she became an award-winning Internet business owner. Just a few years later, her husband of 33 years lost his battle with cancer and left her with four of their seven children still at home. The business that she built continues to provide for her family today.

Now, Rhea loves sharing her experience and knowledge of home business with homeschooling families all over the country. She believes education should empower students to serve God and mankind with their specific gifts as they create financial freedom. Building successful multiple streams of passive income through a few good home businesses is the best avenue.

6 Sessions on Training Children/Families to Be Leaders in Home Business

Friday Night 7:00 – 8:00

How We Brought Our Dad Home from Corporate America in Just 3 Years

When Drew Perry was 18, he brought his college-educated dad home from corporate America in just three years. This interesting story, complete with pictures, will encourage and motivate your young people to think outside of the box and consider building financial freedom doing what they love through home business.

8:30 – 9:30

Home Business Education 101 – 7 foundational principles they don't teach in school

Now that the Internet makes it even easier than ever to reach the world with your products or services, owning a home business is just one way for young people to implement practical leadership abilities to impact their world. Leadership education is different from employee-oriented education. So how do you know if you are encouraging your students to be leaders or employees? Get the answers, plus learn the secrets of entrepreneurial education the Perry family has discovered from almost 30 years of homeschooling about educating children, not just to get a diploma but for financial freedom!

Saturday 9:00 AM to 10:00

How to Prepare Girls for Home Business

Whether we like it or not, there may be times in our daughter's lives before they are married, or if their husbands become ill, die or leave, when they will be required to provide financially for their children. In a world where outsourcing has become the norm in business, it's easier than ever to train young ladies to earn a nice income from home. Having foundational skills will give them the confidence they need to work part-time or full-time from home.

10:15 to 11:15

Apprenticeship: How to Find Godly Mentors for Your Teens

After apprenticing with a godly homeschool dad, Rhea Perry's second son, Will, began his own business - a successful commercial roofing company. If you don’t know what to do with your budding entrepreneurs, make sure they don’t miss this story of how the Perrys implement mentors, live simply, and seek to glorify God by serving others with their natural talents and interests.

1:00 – 2:00

5 Home Business Projects that Teach Financial Literacy and Create Income

In this insightful session, you will learn the fundamentals of five proven home businesses your family can start part-time that could possibly bring dad home like they did! You’ll also learn the four different types of work and why some of your children never finish a job.

2:30 – 3:00

How to Homeschool Your Teens for Business

The way parents homeschool their children is just as important as the curriculum they use. To become successful leaders in the realm of business, students need to learn how to think differently. This unique session is jam packed with ideas and concepts that will challenge your young people to do more than what is expected of them. Tired of dragging your children through “school”? Don’t miss this session to discover the remedy.

As you know, there are many growing needs for homeschoolers and we feel testing is an important one.  Homeschool Testing Services knows there are many opinions on testing.  We believe testing should not define a child, but it is important to use it as a tool so we can learn more about our children and where they stand academically.

We would love to help you meet this need.  You are able to go to our website to learn more: www.homeschooltestingservices.com.

Would you consider allowing our website link to be listed on your page as a resource to walk alongside families that choose to homeschool?

Some questions many families have that we’re open to answering:

Why should I test?

There are many reasons:

First, your state may require it.  Homeschool Testing Services can meet that need.

Second, you are able to use it as a tool to gage where your child is with other children their age.

Third, it will teach them test taking skills that are needed to better prepare them for college entrance exams such as the SAT and ACT.

What tests do you offer?

We offer the CTP (1st-10th grades) and Stanford.  The Stanford can be completed either online (grades 3rd-12th), in the comforts of your own home, on your computer or onsite (grades K-12th), where your child will go to a nearby location with other students and test in a classroom setting.

When should we test?

Homeschool Testing Services is available from February through mid-June.  Most families test between the months of April and mid-June as an end of the year assessment.

I would be more than willing to talk to you about this more if you have any questions.  Please see my signature below if you’d like to call me. I look forward to hearing from you.
