January 2018 Newsletter

JANUARY - 2018 NEWSLETTER

Description: note

Greetings from the President’s desk;

Hello Everyone;

Well, here we are in a brand new year – 2018!   Can you believe 2017 is gone!  It really seems as time is flying by extremely quickly.    One of the many things I enjoy in starting a new year – is the thought that “It’s a New Beginning…  The old is done and finished and now we have a totally clean slate to begin “FRESH” and NEW! Yesterday is done and gone…   In the past we have all made “New Year Resolutions”, perhaps some were achieved and some were not accomplished, do not wallow in the past mistakes and heartaches, let us make some new and obtainable goals so as not to get discouraged and achieve great things in this New Year!

I am so very thankful for the Lord and His Faithfulness to us!  He has certainly brought us thru so many battles, issues, troubles and storms of life….  In this New Year, let us keep Christ at the Center of our lives and if we are daily dependent on Him, we cannot go wrong and we can never fail!  Remember, our steps are ordained of the Lord.  Keep striving to become “all you can be” as a Christian, spouse, mom or dad and as a conscientious individual/adult.  I encourage you to focus on these words – Onward, Forward and always upwards dear brethren!

There are lots of things that we will face in the future…  Let us be Bold, Courageous and full of the Holy Spirit for we shall truly need His guidance, wisdom, strength, encouragement and assurance.  Let us always “Keep the main thing – the main thing” (Jesus Christ in the Center of our lives) and all things will fall into their proper place…

I would like to closed out this letter with the following very Powerful and life changing words of life.

Numbers 6:24th – 26th - Lord bless thee, and keep thee:  The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:  The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV)  -  And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

1st King 8:55-61 (KJV) - And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying, Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.  The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us: That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.  And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the Lord, be nigh unto the Lord our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:  That all the people of the earth may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none else.  Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

May the Lord greatly bless you all and May you and yours have a VERY BLESSED NEW YEAR!!!

ENCOURAGING WORDS

THE POWER OF PRAYER!

Have you ever felt the urge to pray for someone and then just put it on a list and said, "I'll pray for them later"?  Or, has anyone ever called you and said, "I need you to pray for me, I have this need"? Read the following story -- it may change the way you think about prayer, the way you pray and when you pray. You will be blessed by this.

A missionary on furlough told this true story while visiting his home church in Michigan...

"While serving at a small field hospital in Africa, every two weeks I traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies.

This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway point. On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to collect money from a bank, purchase medicine and supplies, and then begin my two-day journey back to the field hospital.

Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had been seriously injured. I treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about the Lord. I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident.

Two weeks later I repeated my journey. Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young man I had treated. He told me that he had known I carried money and medicines. He said, 'Some friends and I followed you into the jungle, knowing you would camp overnight.

We planned to kill you and take your money and drugs. But just as we were about to move into your camp, we saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards. At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle campsite. The young man pressed the point, however, and said, 'No sir, I was not the only person to see the guards. My five friends also saw them, and we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone.

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God - the final authority for all truth and practice. In other words, it is God’s handbook for life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) tells us, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

NEEDED LEGISLATIVE LIAISON

We are looking for a person or two who would serve as a liaison for HSLDA and ENOCH in serving the homeschool community and the politicians in Trenton. Liaison should possess knowledge in the legislative process in New Jersey, including how a bill is introduced, the hearing and voting requirements of the N.J. Assembly and Senate, as well as the governor’s final approval. Liaison must also be familiar with the regulatory agencies and law in New Jersey where such agencies or laws could have an impact on home education. These include the Department of Education, the Division of Family Services, and the Child Advocate’s Office. Other responsibilities would include: interfacing with HSLDA regarding legal threats to homeschooling freedoms in New Jersey; communicate to the ENOCH board regarding any local, state, national or international threats to homeschooling freedoms; communicate in writing – clearly outlining any threat to home education along with any recommended actions; communicate orally – to testify at Senate or Assembly hearings, and as needed with regulatory agencies; to recommend to the ENOCH board how and what to communicate to the public, including the press, regarding home education and any bills or laws related to homeschooling in New Jersey.  Contact David West at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
