May 2009

From the President's Desk

Calling all Homeschoolers of New Jersey,

Convention Update

ENOCH of NJ’s 19th Annual Homeschool Convention is just around the corner.  If you have not Pre-registered there is still time. Pre-registration closes on May 23rd.  We have a great line-up of Featured Speakers, Phil Downer, Dianne Craft and Carol Barnier.  The convention is a great way to look at and buy new curriculum, be encouraged by great speakers and workshops, and to encourage other homeschoolers and those who are thinking about homeschooling.  Friends of ours, who were homeschooling, encouraged us to attend the ENOCH convention.  This was before our oldest daughter was school-aged.   It was after the Keynote Speaker Ken Ham, Answers in Genesis, spoke Friday night that my wife, Minerva and I decided that there was no other choice but to homeschool.  That year, ENOCH changed us and we have not been sorry. Reach out and encourage others. I hope to see you at the convention.

NHERI Study

First, I would like to thank everyone who participated in the NHERI study. NHERI stands for National Home Educator Research Institute. Brian Ray, President, has been a valuable asset to the homeschool community in the research he does. Now that ENOCH has collected data, it has been sent off to NHERI where they will tabulate and compile the information.  When this is completed they will make the information available to ENOCH and we will make it available to the support groups throughout the state.
The ENOCH Board is grateful to Ray Stoever, Trustee of ENOCH, who volunteered his services to get the work accomplished. He was able to get the information and work on getting it put together for NHERI. Thank you.

Final Word – Prayer Needed

The convention is fast approaching and the Board is very busy. We appreciate your prayers during this busy season. We want the Lord to lead and guide us in every aspect and decision needed for the convention. “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it,” (Psalm 127:1).  This is the biggest outreach we have and it takes a lot of folks to put it together.  I want to thank each of the Board members for their hard work.

Blessings,

Richard Millward
President
