School has begun! For many of you, it is just the beginning of your journey. For others, you are almost done. Then there are those who have finished homeschooling and you are settling into a quieter schedule.
For those of you who have reached the latter part of your life, I have some thoughts to share with you. How do you think you did as homeschool parents looking at your graduates now? Do you think you did a good job? How do you know? As I write this, I am in Maryland at the National Leadership Conference. A discussion arose about the generation of homeschoolers; those who have graduated, the “Millennium Generation,” and of how they have done. Studies were conducted, a few years back, revealing how the first generation succeeded academically and socio-economically. But what about other areas? Where are those children today? What is their spiritual condition? What really influenced their lives, educationally, culturally and spiritually?
Are you curious? We are too! There is a new survey being done, to find out what happened to those children who were raised in Christian homes and educated in the 80’s and 90’s. Generations with Vision has teamed up with Dr. Brian Ray, of NHERI, (National Home Education Research Institute), and created the “Gen2Survey”. If you know of a young person between 18-38, whether they are Christian, Non-Christian, Public Schooled, Private Schooled or Home Schooled have them fill out this survey. Just click on Gen2Survey to fill it out. It will take about 10-20 minutes to complete and each participant is entered into a contest to win one of three I-PAD Minis! Down the line in the near future, the survey will be compiled and we will see how homeschoolers compare to public and private school. I am looking forward to hearing more.
You’re not going to believe me but Convention time is upon us! The Board has been working on things already for the 2014 Convention. The theme this upcoming year is “Anchored in Christ” and it will be here before you know it! Write it down, save the date – May 16-17, 2014. We can announce one of our main speakers: Andrew Pudewa. We are very excited to have him back.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
