College Offers

The following is a list of links of colleges which offer incentives valuable to the homeschooling community.

• Somerset Christian College, the only accredited evangelical Christian college based in New Jersey, offers a degree in Biblical Studies on the Bachelor and Associate Degree levels. Our curriculum offers three concentrations: Narrative Biblical Theology, Christian Counseling and Creative Leadership: Entrepreneurial Ministry Design. The college also accepts high school students who qualify to take concurrent courses to get a head start on college.
  

  Of particular interest is our Essay Contest, designed solely for home schooled high school students. Finalists will receive $1,000 scholarships for classes at SCC. Winners will be announced at our special Home School Campus Visit on November 17, 2007.   If you're looking for more than a degree and you want a rich experience that will prepare you for whatever God has in your future, check out Somerset Christian College.

• CollegePlus! students are able to earn the same accredited bachelors degree as their traditional college counterparts, but in half the time and for a fraction of the cost. Best of all, this is done on their own schedule and from their own location, enabling students to continue with other activities such as jobs, internships, ministry, and family life.
• County College of Morris is offering classes designed for homeschoolers.
• Ocean County Community College has a Jump Start program for high school juniors and seniors that has recently been opened to home schoolers. When a parent registers their son or daughter, all they need to do is supply a notarized letter stating that their student has been home schooled. If the student has scored 500 or higher on the math and/or english section of the SAT, he/she is exempt from the placement test. If interested, contact the Director of Jump Start Admissions.
   
• Raritan Valley Community College offers a series of Youth Classes.  Click here to see a catalog of the classes available.

• Gloucester County College recognizes the value of home schooling and welcomes home schooled students to enroll for full- and part-time studies. Home schooled graduates must follow the same steps for general admission, as high school graduates, including completion of the college's basic skills placement test (Compass test). Effective immediately, students may be exempted from the Compass test if they have scored a 500 Verbal and 530 Math on their SATs. Students requesting the exemption must submit their SAT scores to GCC Enrollment Services.

  In addition, home schooled graduates must submit documentation of their academic work in transcript form, if available. In lieu of a formal transcript, a signed letter will be accepted from the primary instructor verifying that the student has successfully completed the equivalent of a high school education.

  Home-schooled graduates applying to a selective admissions program (ex. Nursing) will be required to submit formal documentation to verify completion of course and testing pre-requisites. For more information, please contact Enrollment Services at 856-415-2209.

  Homeschooled high-school students are able to take classes at Gloucester County College under the Credit Banking program. Homeschooled students under the age of sixteen would need to provide a letter of approval from the parent(s) stating their knowledge and approval of the child taking classes at GCC.
