Group Description:
The HEARTS LSG, Home Educated and Ready to Serve, is one of the largest local support groups of the North Jersey Homeschool Association serving the area radiating from Hawthorne Gospel Church in Hawthorne NJ. We encompass a large geographic area including but not limited to West Milford on the north and extending to Oradell in Bergen County. Out of HEARTS flows the directors of NJHSA choir and drama ministries, Hearts of Praise younger choir as well as the present president of NJHSA and the coordinator of the prayer chain. HEARTS has always been a compassionate ministry focused group which recently has dedicated itself to providing a high level of purposeful support to its members. Realizing the great responsibilities of the Home Education life style and respecting our familiesΓÇÖ devotion to their local congregations, the HEARTS group does not require service in return for membership. What HEARTS expects from its members is to serve joyfully where able and to cultivate a harmonious supportive working environment for its families. In so much as we currently sponsor the NJHSA Spelling Bee and offer Teen Night, Bowling, Family Fun Night and Parents support services including the new Shepherding program and support meetings, we greatly encourage member generated events and activities. If you are taking your family on a field trip for example, we would you encourage you to run it for the whole group. HEARTS operates with a leadership team following a servant leadership format. HEARTS has recently updated the job description of the leadership team members making it very easy to serve, as duties are spelled out clearly for members in good standing in the group for more than two years. HEARTS invites all of its members to the annual membership meeting held each spring to voice opinions and become involved with decisions making and planning.
